What to do
There is so much to do on Kauai that it's just not possible to list everything here. If you are looking for adventure you will never run out of things to do. And don't forget, lying on the beach and doing nothing is a great choice! There are a couple of good guidebooks in the condo including the Kauai Underground Guide and be sure to pick a copy "101 Things to do on Kauai" at the airport when you arrive for details on the activities and many more.

Sailing and Ocean Sports
There is a wide range of options for sailing including deep-sea fishing, Na Pali coast tours, snorkeling trips, romantic sunset sails, and from late December through April ocean there are whale watching excursions! You can surf, scuba dive, windsurf, bodysurf, body board, and snorkel all around Poipu Beach and the island of Kauai. Explore sea caves, and swim with sea turtles and monk seals in the clear tropical waters of Hawaii, one of the world's top 10 dive destinations.

Kayaking
There are some great kayak trips and tours available on Kauai. Outfitters Kauai can take you on an exclusive National Wildlife Refuge paddle and waterfalls hiking tour that takes you on a fun downwind kayak trip on the Huleai, a beautiful and historic jungle stream, deep into the heart of the island! Huleai has been the site of filming for a wide range of major motion pictures, including Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park and its sequel Lost World.

Biking
A fun, exciting bike ride is from the rim of Waimea Canyon down 12 miles of smooth winding blacktop all the way to the shore of the blue Pacific. Or take a shoreline ride along the entire Poipu coastline from Spouting Horn to Maha'ulepu. Road bikes, cruisers, mountain-a-bikes and baby seats are all available for rent.

Hiking
Hiking is perhaps one of the best activities on Kauai and there are many trails all over the island. A great hike in the Poipu area begins at Shipwreck Beach, walk east along the sand dunes and follow the coast until you come to the end, Maha'lepu Beach. This is a very special place on Kauai with unique sand dunes, native and rare plants, sea birds, and fabulous scenery. Remember to respect the distinctive flora, fauna and archaeological aspects of this beautiful place.

Horseback Riding
Whether you're an expert rider or a beginner, you'll find a number of riding stables to choose from on Kauai including right in the Poipu area.
